Today I thought of discussing a topic related to Social Networks because a lot of people use it, yet we do not really dimension the vast amount of benefits and possibilities for our ventures. I have elaborated some rules I have compiled for Social Media Marketing, that will help you increase and improve your online presence with your social media channels.

We are not discovering what social media is, and probably most of us utilize more than one Social Network to connect with friends and family and with others as we make efforts to engage potential consumers, transform them into fans and then get them to purchase our products. If you are still not sure how important Social Media is for your business, you just have to look at the numbers of people that are connected. And between facebook, pinterest, twitter, youtube about ¼ of the worldwide population are connected via social media.

How many devices do you use, and about how many at home? I bet there are 2 or 3 devices per person, anyone can access the internet.

So, you as an entrepreneur, who have created something to solve someone else’s problem, you must take this opportunity and leverage the power of social media to your advantage. Imagine, you can create amazing content, and reach out a new audience and increase your exposure, and on top of that, have your brand be present in front of people, multiple times during the day, week or month.

As with everything you need to have a strategy, and unless you are a micro-celebrity with thousands of followers you will need to design a good plan to engage the audience and create some impact in them.

You need to focus on quality, and be at the right place (which platform? Fb, twitter, pinterest, Instagram, youtube or other?) at the right time (what day/time of the week will your message be more relevant?) but also with the right message, and find the balance to align all the starts in your favor.

So, based on my experience, here are 10 rules of Social Media Marketing for you to help you increase your bottom line:

1.Listen;

Success with social media and content marketing requires more listening and less talking.

Read your target audience’s online content and join discussions to learn what’s important to them.

Only then can you create content and spark conversations that add value rather than clutter to their lives.

2.Focus;

It’s better to specialize in a niche, rather than to be everything to everyone.

A highly-focused social media and content marketing strategy intended to build a strong brand has a better chance for success than a broad strategy that attempts to be all things to all people.

3.Quality over Quantity

It’s better to have 1,000 online connections who read, share and talk about your content with their own audiences than 10,000 connections who disappear after connecting with you the first time.

Become a micro celebrity for your audience

4. Be Patient

Social media and content marketing success doesn’t happen overnight.

Commit to the long haul to achieve results.

Avoid paid followers (fake)

5. Make information Shareable

If you publish amazing content, work to build your online audience of quality followers, they’ll share it with their own audiences on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, their own blogs and more.

Your SEO can improve. This sharing and discussing of your content opens new entry points for search engines like Google to find it in keyword searches. Those entry points could grow to hundreds or thousands of more potential ways for people to find you online.

6. The Power of Influencers

Have a plan to connect with influencers in your market who have quality audiences and are likely to be interested in your products, services and business.

Connect with those people and work to build relationships with them.

Contribute with them, get them to know you, they might share your content with their own followers, which could put you and your business in front of a huge new audience.

7. Focus more in value than conversions

If you spend all your time on the social Web directly promoting your products and services, people will stop listening.

You must add value to the conversation.

Over time, those people will become a powerful catalyst for word-of-mouth marketing for your business.

8. Build Relationships

You wouldn’t ignore someone who reaches out to you in person so don’t ignore them online.

Building relationships is one of the most important parts of social media marketing success, so always acknowledge every person who reaches out to you.

9. Be accessible

Don’t publish your content and then disappear.

Be available to your audience and participate in conversations.

10. Reciprocity

You can’t expect others to share your content and talk about you if you don’t do the same for them.

So, a portion of the time you spend on social media should be focused on sharing and talking about content published by others.

I hope you can find here good things to consider related to your social media needs, to be able to establish and create a strategy that can work for you. As there is not magical recipe, you will need to be willing to test and try new things, see what works and what does not, make the adjustments and try again.
